School: The Room

The Room creates a new ambiance. By taking health activities out of the gym, by taking cultural activities out of the gallery, the cultural gets located within the recreational. Offering fitness and art, The Room encourages both stimulation and provocation. The catalyst for this co-existence is the tango, a dance which, on the one hand, can be a demonstration of artistry by professionals, and on the other, can be a warm social gathering for those who are simply enthusiastic about their dancing. The Room provides North London with the crucible for an arts think-tank, a genuinely ground-breaking exercise in bringing non-arts professionals into contact with artists from a variety of disciplines.
